A walk back in time : 4th Avenue, Anchorage, Alaska, 1940-1970 / KAKM.

The collection consists of 34 oral history interviews with longtime Alaskans on 33 audiocassette tapes conducted as research for the KAKM production of the documentary "Fourth Avenue : the street that was the whole town." The interviews were conducted by Gordon Bolar and Diann Sewald in 1994. Also included is one looseleaf binder containing transcripts of the tapes, notes on the project, and a list of those interviewed. Interviewees include: Fred and Velma Adkerson, Robert Atwood, John Bagoy, Edgar Paul Boyko, Ruth Alice Briggs, Agnes Burns, Dan and Lucy Cuddy, Red Dodge, Norma Goodman, Robert Gottstein, Jerry and Sandy Harper, Lorene Harrison, Jack Hendrickson, Augie Hiebert, Harold Hitcher, Bennie and Margaret Leonard, Dick Lobdell, Brooke Marston, Steve McCutcheon, John and Mary Jean McManiman, Opal Myers, Robert Opinsky, Frank Pauls, Ray Petersen, Frank Reed, Maxine Reed, Kim Rich, Bud Seltenreich, Sarah Skinner, Bill and Flo Tryck, Bob Van Huss, and Gib and Lucy Whitehead.

Lucy Hon Cuddy was born in Waldron, Arkansas. She graduated from the University of Arkansas (1911). She taught school for five years before moving to Valdez, Alaska, where she continued her teaching career. She married Warren N. Cuddy, a lawyer from Washington, in 1916. They had two sons, David Warren Cuddy and Daniel Hon Cuddy. Steve McCutcheon was born on August 30, 1911 in Cordova, Alaska. After moving to Anchorage in 1915, he held a variety of jobs and eventually served terms in the Alaska Territorial House and Senate.
